Oakwood recently orchestrated a design competition with students from Detroit’s College for Creative Studies. The six-week assignment centered on designing new uses for expanded metal, metal speaker grilles, and powder coated assemblies. Thirteen students from CCS’s transportation design and product design departments generated many exciting and innovative ideas. Throughout the competition the students were given access to Oakwood executives and full manufacturing plant tours. The three winning designs came from Sean Nemoto (1st place), Harrison Schillinger (2nd place), and Ryan Thomas (3rd place).
